» How to use the ILAC MRA Mark
The ILAC MRA Mark is registered as a worldwide mark and is owned by the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC). It has been produced for the promotion of the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement (MRA) and the recognition of accreditation activities covered by the ILAC MRA.
The ILAC MRA Mark itself can only be used on its own by ILAC and by Recognised Regional Cooperation Bodies such as the European cooperation for Accreditation (EA). However, accredited conformity assessment bodies (CABs) that are accredited by an Accreditation Body that is a signatory to the ILAC MRA, such as UKAS, can obtain permission to use the ‘Accredited CAB Combined ILAC MRA Mark’: This is a mark that combines the UKAS accreditation symbol with the ILAC MRA Mark. Rules for the reproduction and use of the Accredited CAB Combined ILAC MRA Mark are specified in ILAC publication ILAC-R7.
Previously the ILAC MRA Mark was restricted to use by laboratories. However changes were made in June 2015 allowing for the use of the ILAC MRA Mark to be managed through Agreements between accreditation bodies and CABs, which now includes Inspection Bodies as well as Testing, Calibration and Medical Laboratories.
All UKAS accredited Laboratories and Inspection Bodies are now entitled to use the Accredited CAB Combined ILAC MRA Mark provided they have signed the UKAS Accredited CAB Combined ILAC MRA Mark Agreement and use the Mark as prescribed.
If you are a UKAS accredited body wishing to use the UKAS Accredited CAB Combined ILAC MRA Mark then you will need to:-

- Complete and sign the Agreement (do not add date on front page) ;
- Submit the Agreement to UKAS by:

At the time that the signed Agreement is returned, UKAS will make available a copy of the relevant UKAS Accredited CAB Combined ILAC MRA Mark(s) in electronic format.
Please note that the UKAS Accredited CAB Combined ILAC MRA Mark cannot be used unless both UKAS and the accredited CAB have signed the relevant Agreement.
