» Accreditation for Certification of Event Sustainability Management Systems – Call for Expressions of Interest
11 August, 2017
The United Kingdom Accreditation Service is proposing to establish a project to develop accreditation for the certification of event sustainability management systems (ISO 20121). UKAS intends to run a pilot programme and is inviting expressions of interest from organisations that wish to seek accreditation for this activity. Participants in the pilot assessment programme will be required to agree to the terms of reference of the pilot and will be subject to assessment by UKAS against the international standard ISO/IEC 17021-1: 2015 (Conformity assessment – Requirements for bodies providing audit and certification of management systems) which sets out general criteria for the impartiality and competence of management system certification bodies. Assessment will also take into account the requirements of PD ISO/IEC TS 17021-4: 2013 Competence requirements for auditing and certification of event sustainability management systems.
On satisfactory completion of assessment by UKAS and on timely completion of the pilot assessment programme requirements, the applicants will be accredited to ISO 17021 for the certification of event sustainability management systems.
The pilot programme will consist of the following key stages:
- Expressions of interest from potential applicants
- Consultation meeting with those who expressed interest to discuss the objectives and terms of the pilot
- Applications for accreditation
- Planning and assessment of pilot applicants
- Announcement of accreditation
- Review/lessons learned discussion with stakeholders (if necessary)
Those who wish to express an interest to participate in the pilot programme are requested to contact the UKAS Development Coordinator firstname.lastname@example.org and provide their contact details, no later than 30 September 2017.
